Title: Getting Conflict Resolution Right in Africa: The Case of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Language: English

Abstract:
This lecture will focus on conflict resolution in Africa and deals with the core question of why, despite various peace initiatives, African conflicts persist. It first raises ten lessons that we can learn from peace initiatives in Africa. It then goes on to discuss why violence continues in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), despite the presence of a large-scale peacekeeping force (MONUSCO), and despite massive foreign assistance.
