This workshop was a part of the three year project undertaken by teams of researchers from Australia, China and Japan to gauge the extent to which three key Asia-Pacific powers can integrate viable human security approaches into their traditional security policy planning and evaluate how human security can complement or pose an alternative to traditional security approaches.
This research collaboration is undertaken by the Australian National University’s Departments of International Relations and Political and Social Change, the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) in Beijing, the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Law, and Osaka University’s OSIPP (Osaka School of International Public Policy) with the generous financial support from the Japan Foundation.
